Mountain
Biking

I have a Trek Y-22 carbon fiber full suspension. So far
I've cracked a rib and broke my collar bone. Its a blast. no, really it
is.
Although the triangle area has many good trails
to offer, I do have my favorites. They are very technical. I helped
blazed some of the trails over the last couple years with my riding partners.
It seems once something is mastered, then try something else that didn't
seem possible (or sane). Recently, logging crews have destroyed much
of the trails and taken some of the land for development. So, we enjoy
the trails while we can.
Some names of obstacles....
-
widow maker- a whoop dee doo
-
dead mans' gulch- a fun gully that leads into the ridge loop.
As certain odor used to linger in the area. Hmmmm, that started just
after we lost one of our riding partners.......coincidence?
-
the viper- a section of single track with switchbacks
over some gullys.
-
death trail- a single track favorite
-
death trail 2- picks up where dt ends. has some good
gully runs.
-
the goat- a trail connecting dt & dt2 to the high road.
-
high road- an old logging road central to many trails
-
stump trail- starts with a big stump and a large fallen tree
resting against it, leading to a creek bed.
-
ridge loop- a short loop trail that has 2 great whoop dee
doos. Fairly easy in one direction,
but much more difficult in reverse, with a vertical rise (drop) of
~9 feet
