"Nova Quest Observatory"

These are a series of photos taken on Oct 10th, 1998 at the ANZA site to show where the proposed "Nova Quest Observatory" will be located and its height impact on people currently located at " Jupiter Ridge" just to the Northwest. Gary Schones and myself are holding two 10 foot sections of pipe to illustrate the maximum roof height of the proposed observatory. Every effort will be made to keep the roof height to less than 10 feet. Under no circumstances was there any location at the ANZA facilities that could be found where the maximum roof height of 10 foot would interfere with observing by onyone.

Just behind Gary and Jerry is "Jupiter Ridge". This is a reference shot to show the proposed placement of the "Nova Quest Observatory" in relation to "Jupiter Ridge". The direction we are looking here is to the Northwest. Just to the upper left is where the new observation pads are being built and the existing observatory without the dome, is located about in the center on the upper ridge.

This photo is taken from just next to the power distribution box located on the observatory level and about 20 feet from where the "Nova Quest Observatory" will be located. This photo is looking in the direction of the West.

This photo is looking from the lowest pad of "Jupiter Ridge" toward the Southeast and overlooking where the "Nova Quest Observatory" will be located. That is Gary Schones just next to the white building holding a 10 foot high pole. As can be seen, the mountains to the Southeast are higher than the 10 foot pole Gary is holding. This illistrates that people from "Jupiter Ridge" will have an unobstructed view to the Southeast after the "Nova Quest Observatory" is built.

This photo is also looking from the direction of "Jupiter Ridge" toward the South and overlooking where the "Nova Quest Observatory" will be located. That is Gary Schones just thru the trees holding a 10 foot high pole. In this photo the small white building shown in the above photo is located to the right and not visible. As can be seen, the mountains to the South are considerably higher than the 10 foot pole Gary is holding. This illistrates that people from "Jupiter Ridge" will have an unobstructed view to the South after the "Nova Quest Observatory" is built.
