Short Background

Early in 2016, I co-founded Networked Media, a technology company, to provide consulting services to industrial, legal and academic institutions in the IP video space.

I have been a research and development engineer since 2001, and have broad experience in mathematical modeling, performance analysis, optimization, standards development, intellectual property and innovation. Between 2007 and 2015, I was with the Video and Content Platforms Research and Advanced Development Group at Cisco, where I have architected, designed and developed algorithms, protocols, products and solutions in the service provider and enterprise video domains. Papers, talks and presentations from my Cisco projects are available here.

I am also affiliated with Özyeğin University. I am an assistant professor in the computer science department teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. I also spend a considerable amount of time on services in the academic world.

Education

I graduated from Georgia Tech with a Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering in 2006. The title of my dissertation is "Enhancing the multimedia experience in emerging networks." You can learn more about my dissertation research here. I received my B.S. degree is in electrical engineering from Bilkent University in 2001.
