I am currently the principal architect for streaming technologies at MediaMelon, Inc. I joined MediaMelon in February 2016 and details on my projects are available here. Earlier in 2016, I also co-founded Networked Media, a technology company, to provide consulting services to industrial, legal and academic institutions in the IP video space.
I have been a research and development engineer since 2001, and have broad experience in mathematical modeling, performance analysis, optimization, standards development and intellectual property innovation. Between 2007 and 2015, I was with the Video and Content Platforms Research and Advanced Development Group at Cisco, where I have architected, designed and developed algorithms, protocols, products and solutions in the service provider and enterprise video domains. In addition to the professional positions, I am also affiliated with Özyeğin University. I periodically teach courses in a number of universities and spend a considerable amount of time on services in the academic world.
I graduated from Georgia Tech with a Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering in 2006. The title of my dissertation is "Enhancing the multimedia experience in emerging networks." You can learn more about my dissertation research here. I received my B.S. degree is in electrical engineering from Bilkent University in 2001.
