World Health Organization Focus Groups

The World Health Organization, based in Geneva, Switzerland, chose the Aphasia Center of California as one of two sites in the United States to host Focus Groups as the first step in developing a measure addressing quality of life after stroke.

On March 13th and March 20th, the ACC formed 4 focus groups consisting of more than 30 stroke survivors and caregiver's. The day long groups were facilitated by Dr. Roberta Elman and Susan Ewing of the ACC and asked participants for their input on issues such as communication, mobility, social relationships, finances, self-esteem, and transportation following stroke.

A big thank you to all focus group participants! Your participation will help to improve the quality of life of future stroke survivors.

Thanks to the Wells Fargo Foundation
The Wells Fargo Foundation awarded the Aphasia Center of California a grant of $2,500 to provide Group Communication Treatment to individuals with low-to-moderate incomes with aphasia.

Thank you Wells Fargo Foundation!
