The following text is the biography of Joseph Fraser - great great grandfather to Andrew, Liisa and Joe - kindly provided by Patricia Molloy. He was born on 20th September 1852 to Robert Fraser (an Elder of the Skene church) and his wife Mary Orcheston (whose brother was Harbour Master, Aberdeen) at Bishopdams Farm, near Skene, 5 miles west of Aberdeen. He was the ninth child of a large family of about 14 children (5 died in infancy) and he grew up on the arable farm of about 200 acres, which was previously farmed by his Grandfather John. He left school at 13 and became apprenticed to another farmer, as his elder siblings already worked with his Father at Bishopdams. Bishopdams is still extant (2004).
