Landscaping
This page illustrates our multi-year landscaping project. We did all of the front work and a good deal of the back work ourselves.
This picture shows the 4" drains for the downspouts and French drain, as well as the front yard sprinkler box.
This view is from the same location but looking toward the street. You can see the rest of the French drain (it ends in a large gravel pit).
Our large river rock being dropped off (both sections of the dump truck were full).

Skip ahead many hours of work - here's the finished result.
Looking out from the front porch.
These were the toughest trees for Glenn and I to plant - until we planted the monster tree in his backyard.
Here's a look at the backyard - we've planted a few additional trees since then on the rise in the center.
The other half of the backyard.
The manual labor that we killed installing the rocks.
Various raw materials - compost, gravel, sand, mulch, and flagstones.
Leanna and her boyfriend Jason working on the flagstones. You can see the large pieces in the background - they arrived on two pallets.
Jason at work cutting the flagstone. We originally used a sledge hammer and cold chisel, but the electric grinder turned out to be much faster.
