Westfield, UConn - GBTC Takes Pride and Wins

At Westfield on March 31st, Jennifer Hawkes continues her onslaught on the high jump club record clearing 1.70m for the win and by far distanced herself from the other college competitors. Jennifer is joined by Tessa Clare on the 14th of April at Northeastern for more high flying.

In the intermediate hurdles, Matt Collins makes his long awaited return to the track post injuries and wedding and snuck between high school coaching duties. Matt in his usual catch up race just misses nipping first place with a decent opening 56.80. We are working on finding a way to get busy Matt down to Penns to join Theo Mbacke, Francis Shen and Mat LeMaire in the Shuttle Hurdles.

On April 7th, UConn cleared their snow and held a meet where Sherita Williams and Ray Smith opened their outdoor season. Sherita won in the triple jump by a foot with her casual 13.09m (42-11.5) over UConn/Shore AC's multi-eventer Tamara Highsmith. While Ray officially debuted under the club name with a good opening 6.78m (22-3) in the long jump for third. Both Sherita and Ray will join us in our 4x100 teams at Penn Relays, while Ray will surprise going long in our 4x400 as well. In the meantime, this weekend they plan a trip to Brown.
