General Yeager has always been kind of a hero to me. He and his P51 fighter buddies took care of the B-24 Bombers flying from England on the many air raids into Germany. As many of you know, my Dad, Capt. (at the time) Sid Williamson, was a lead pilot at the front of many of these bomber formations. The P51 pilots were successful in sweeping the skies over Europe of the majority of the Germany fighters that had taken such a toll on bomber crews during the early years of the war. By the time my Dad was flying missions over Germany, most of this resistance had been nearly totally eliminated by guys like Chuck Yeager.
