![]() The Well-Adjusted DwarfHere is the adjusted Dwarf racial characteristics I will be using in my upcoming WFRP campaign. I've placed astericks next to attributes that are different from the rulebook.
OK, Why?These changes reflect my thoughts on the unnecessary and somewhat illogical crippling of dwarves in the WFRP rules. As pointed out in previous posts, the canon 2D10+10 Initiative makes dwarves less combat worthy than their reputation deserves. Adding 5 points gives the dwarf character a little bump and increases the chance of dwarven rogues from 1% to 21%, matching the chance of elven rogues. On the Dex boost: I cannot recall in any description of the dwarven race the line "dwarves are notoriously butter-fingered and clumsy." According to the rules, Dex represents "manual Dexterity" and the "character's ability to perform complex, intricate or delicate manual crafts." I seem to recall the dwarves are considered excellent craftsmen and builders, something not borne out by a racial Dex so bad they couldn't hit a nail with a hammer the size of frying pan. (Hmm...maybe that's why all those GW dwarf minatures have such big hammers...). Thus, I feel it is perfectly justified to set dwarven manual ability on par with humans.
