SPECIFICATIONS for CLIFF SOJOURNER, FOR EXPORT VERSION (*)

OF IAN FARRIER DESIGNED F-41 CRUISING CATAMARAN

F-41 SPECIFICATIONS: L.O.A.= 41’ 8" (12.7m), B.O.A.=23’ 1" (7.04m), DRAFT[Board Up] =1’ 10" (0.56m),

Board Down = 7' 4" (2.24m), Full Load Displacement [at DWL] 16,900 lbs. (7680 Kg),

(1) GENERAL: This specification is for a complete boat minus the mast, boom and rigging. Mutual price agreement is pre-arranged in writing for all extras requested during construction. The export version (*) [means all accessories and fittings are carefully selected to ensure parts and servicing is available internationally], is produced to the highest international standards, and in the tradition of the world renowned New Zealand boatbuilding craftsmanship. This version comes complete with client selected option of three cabins, one bathroom starboard side, no bathroom port side, mostly Farrier plan option No. 3, with part option No. 2, Port forward berth facing forward. Galley in 'up' position in saloon, with a 'L' shaped bench and small rectangular table instead of the round table shown in option No. 3 drawing. Dinning table has rise / fall alloy pedestals turning settee / table into spare berth. Refer to attached client altered drawing of Farrier sheet # 30.

Standard is a pair of lift-up dagger boards for maximum sailing performance. Twin transom cassette lift-up rudders. Wheel steering, [dual stations Port & S/Bd.], main anchor [plow CQR] with 50 ft chain and warp, self draining cockpit, twin transom hang rudders. A pair of 25 HP, 4 stroke long shaft Mercury petrol engines. Out/boards are mounted on vertical rise & fall in cockpit lockers as shown in plans. Two Tempo B-157. 50 litre fuel tanks supplied with Navman tank gauges. Steering compass supplied. Interior has standing headroom in saloon. Client has chosen to have the lower main cabin top option, which also allows for wider side decks. This quote allows for the use of clients own existing F-41 plans and license No. 6. Interior surfaces in saloon and cabins to be a pleasing mix of painted surfaces [flat bulkheads], or using selected wood veneer on some bulkheads, if veneer option is included [see option list # 18 ],and stretch 'Flex' for the uneven surfaces, and 'Frontrunner' material covering on some walls and ceiling areas. Interior nylon carpet in saloon and cabins. Client selected white carpet to be used. Will be velcro fitted for easy removal.

(2) CONSTRUCTION: Hull & decks, are produced using the highest quality 19/20 mm, 80 Kg density foam, all hand laid with Bi-directional layers of fibreglass laminates. Lay-ups are exactly to Farrier plans specifications, all using high quality vinylester resin. The high stress articles such as dagger boards, and rudders use epoxy resin.

High density hardwood inserts are positioned within the foam to accommodate the deck fittings.

Highest quality Polyurethane two pot paint systems are used on all exteriors to give a superior finish and durability than standard gelcoats. Main hull exterior areas are white colour, with rescue orange on under side of bridge deck, non slip deck areas grey colour. Antifoul paint will be applied to below water-line.

(3) NON-SKID: Important areas are incorporated in the paint finish with contrasting colours to suit.

(4) ACCOMMODATION AND INTERIOR: Interior panels are made from light weight foam cores & fibre glass, suitable for a mix of fabric & painted finishes. Saloon dining table & seating arranged to client choice, as detailed in # 1 above. Head and shower compartment, with gas hot water unit, is fully enclosed with hinged door access. Force Ten LPG oven with cook-top & sail rail pot holders. Themocool 12v unit fitted in top load draining built in cool box / frig. Stainless double steel sink, with 12v Flojet water pump system. 150 litre water tank, and 100 litre fuel in 2 x 50 L. 'Tempo' polyethylene fuel tanks. Upholstery: Interior seats and cabin berths covers use Glentuff # 8805 antique white fabric, or similar brand.

(5) HULL AND DECK GEAR FITTINGS: Hardware: Stainless steel stanchions, carbon spinnaker bow pole, mainsheet traveller system, Harken tracks for genoa and jib sheets, rope clutches for main, jib, & spin halyards, mooring and anchoring cleats where required, all specified chain plates fitted, water & holding tank deck caps and vents fitted, daggerboard rope clutches and case cheek blocks fitted with up-down lines. Anchor well and hatch cover. Halyard route option 4 as per sheet # 34, leading to electric halyard cockpit winch.

(6) HARKEN SAILING DECK GEAR: Kenwood Yachts have selected Harken gear. All pad eyes, halyard turning blocks, Jib sheet tracks & leads, rope clutches, daggerboard clamcleats, halyard & sheet winches, 2 speed self tailing, mainsheet winch, traveller control winches, mainsheet traveller, as detailed in Farrier plan sheet Nos. 32, & 33, are fitted.

(7) HATCHES: Weaver alloy (offshore) hatches with bronze tint polycarbonate are fitted where required, including safety escape hatches shown on plans.

10x WP4 side fixed portlights, 2x Fwd. fixed portlights WP4, 2x bow hatches SLW45,

2x deck hatches SLW50, 2x Roof hatch SLW50 2x Stern hatch SLW50

2x Emergency hatch SLW45 2x Fwd. Bulkhead hatch SLW62, assorted GRP hatches where required.

2x extra SLW50 deck hatches instead of flush mount transom step hatches.

(8) WINCHES: All Harken 2 speed self tailing with 2 handles per boat. 1x electric halyard winch. 2x sheet winches Harken B48.2STA. Harken # 54 winches used for spinnaker. Electric Maxwell V W 1200 anchor winch.

(9) WINDOWS: Tinted gray/bronze Polycarbonate, as specified in plans.

(10) NETS: Port and starboard fwd. nets fitted . Made from heavy duty netting as per designers fab. parts list

(11) ELECTRICAL: battery compartment for 3 marine 12v batteries, 2x GPL-31 [AGM type] Longlife house batteries, 2x GPL-1400 starting battery. BEP circuit breaker 12v panel, battery master switch, 12v cabin lights fitted, quality marine wiring system throughout, charging from o/b engines, deck mounted bow nav. lights with white stern deck light. ( Other Nav. & deck lights come as part of the mast package). Co2 and LPG gas detectors fitted.

(12) PLUMBING: Vanity sink with pressure water and drain, galley sink & pressure water & drains, marine toilet EcoVac marine toilet complete with holding tank marina deck pump out system and self discharge at sea. Shower with sump drain, 150 litre water tank, LPG auto start, gas water heating unit, 2x alloy gas bottles. Deck wash-down pump [sea water]. Two 12v electric bilge pumps fitted. Two manual bilge pumps [one each hull] fitted.

(13) RIGGING, MAST: No Mast, Boom, or Rigging are supplied with this quotation. A separate quotations available on request. The retractable bow pole is supplied.

(14) SAILS: A specified price [PC sum. see 16] of $NZ 23,000 is included in the total price quoted. See separate F-41 sail list to make personal choice.

(15) ELECTRONIC SAILING INSTRUMENTS: A generous allowance of $13,000 is included in the contract price as a PC sum [see 16 below] . This allows client to select their own range of electronics. We suggest Raytheon "Autohelm" brand for wind-speed, auto pilots, etc. These have full international backing. Ask for separate compass and instrument list to make your selections. We can supply compasses for any geographic region.
