They love advantature, mystery, science fictions, fantasy books. They may have less patience with the slow moving pace of the classic literature. I remember when I was in the middle school in China. There was not too much to read in the library when China just came out of Culture Revolution. I read every books that I can found by H.G. Wells and Jules Verne (Chinese translation) which lured me into science and engineering. On the other hand, I just could not finish Anna Karenina which probably more suitable for girls.
