Boys sometimes have different tastes in selecting books than girls. They love advantature, mystery, science fictions, fantasy books. They may have less patience with the slow moving pace of the classic literature. I remember when I was in the middle school in China. There was not too much to read in the library when China just came out of Culture Revolution. I read every books that I can found by H.G. Wells and Jules Verne (Chinese translation) which lured me into science and engineering. On the other hand, I just could not finish Anna Karenina which probably more suitable for girls.
