Race of the Month

Hood Run for the Charles on Thursday August 19th

An over flow crowd created a mad dash at the start for what otherwise was an enjoyable run along the esplanade despite the occasional roller blader attempting to go up stream against this running mass. After race festivities were held at the Science Museum pavilion. This Race of the Month met the criteria for CRC: a good race (along the Charles), available to many (run in Boston and Cambridge), a social event (lots of food etc.). Beer, Pizza and music this is a fun race to run; remember that for next year.(Distance was announced as 4.3 but actual was shorter.)

Chuck comments:
I was pleased with my results, as I intended to run (not too hard) at 6:15 pace and managed to match my goal almost exactly.

The YHC 3-miler. Rocket Ray Gonzalez made his racing debut last night at the Yankee Homecoming 3 Miler after a 2 month lay off due to a fracture of his left tibia! Judging from his time he didn't lose much! Bob Gillon snatched second in his age group but'll have to wait to get his prize as they are mailing the out later, thus depriving us of seeing a CRC member take the stage!

In the ten miler the most impressive performance was given by Feliciano Protasi, who stunned the crowd coming in at 1:04:23 (6:27). It would seem that a Boston qualifying time is in his reach should he choose to do Bay-State. Peter Gallimore after having set a PR cooled down by jogging in the last .3 of a mile with Diane who finished 14 female and 10th in her division.
