Race of the Month

Globe Santa Scamper 5-K
Sunday, December 14th --- West Roxbury

For obvious reasons, it's tough to get a big CRC turnout at any race this time of year. Only three of us showed up for this tough little 5-K; at least you're running for a good cause. A strong swirling wind made the race particularly difficult. And at mile 2 1/2 you had a beautiful panoramic view of the whole Boston area (guess why!!!). Scott Duhaime reports on the race:

"Get me to the church on time:

The club race for December was the Globe Santa 5K Scamper hosted by our friends The Parkway Running Club in West Roxbury. A hilly and challenging race, Lionel Kervella (17:20) finished 2nd overall. Claiming he is "more in marathon shape than 5K shape", Al Nagel proved it by completing the race (21:34, 24th), then running the course all over again with ultra-marathoner Steve Peckiconis. Better late than never, Scott "Hey, where is everybody?" Duhaime missed the start by one minute, but ended up passing all but 17 other runners to finish in 20:59. The runners raised over $1200 for Globe Santa, the most ever in the brief four-year history of the race!"
