A Spring In Their Step
As Well As In The Air...

Postponed for a week because of snow (why didn't they do that last year?), The Stew Chase was finally held on February 10th under glorious sunshine and 40 degree temperatures. Although facing a strong head wind on the returning leg, nine CRC runners competed on this 15K course with 312 other finishers through Lynn, Swampscott Harbor, Marblehead (a town named after Bob Gillon), and back. With the wind swept Atlantic shimmering in the background and thoughts of an enticing bowl of stew to greet them at the end, Marcello Scippa raced to 18th overall, while our newest addition to the women's team, Diane Meurcer, took 3rd in that division.

February 3rd

  • Ron Trippett took a break from the 26.2 mile distance and competed in two shorter races: one was a 5 miler in Lawrence, MA which he ran in 34:30.
February 10th
  • Always one to run in exotic locations, Ronnie then gambled his way into the Las Vegas 1/2 marathon, which he finished in 1:32, just a little over 7 minute miles - way to go Ron!
February 25th
  • Two CRC runners ignored high wind warnings to compete with 309 other entrants in the "Old Fashioned" Ten Miler in Sharon, MA on Sunday, February 24th. Braving winds peaking near 60 mph, new member Derrick Mess placed 37th in 64:10, while Scott Duhaime finished 67th with a PR of 68:45. Both plan to enter the up and coming "Big Man's Race" (190 lbs or better). Hey big guy, check out our Links Page to find the Clydesdale Virtual Racing Page and calculate your "winning" time weighing in at 150lbs!
