January Race of the Month December 2001
Sat. 1/13 Fresh Pond (2.5 mile or 5 mile race -- free, casual, get
your name in the paper!)

Get out your calendars!! It's time to start planning for next year! We've
got great races lined up for 2001, with lots of new twists and turns in store.
Check it out.....
- More opportunities to race as a team
- More post-race "social gatherings" to replenish those lost fluids
and nutrients
- A mystery "club only" race
- Cross country races
As dates & additional information become available, I will pass them along. If
you would like to host a "social gathering" after any of these races, please let
me know!!
The next ROM is less than a month away ... are you ready?
If you are considering running (and even if you're
not) It is really important that you apply for USATF membership before
entering this race! Why? Because many ROM are in the USATF-New England Grand Prix series, which means that all regional clubs
will be showing up with their best runners in tow. We don't need to
declare teams in advance -- all you have to do is show up and run -- the
top finishers (male and female, open, masters, and veterans) from each
club will make up that club's "team" and will be ranked accordingly in the
Grand Prix standings. In the past, CRC has typically not appeared in any
of the Grand Prix results because we haven't had enough club members with
active USATF membership numbers. You can change that!! All you need to do
to become a USATF member is:
- Go to their website: www.usatfne.org
- Scroll to the bottom and click on Membership Information
- Register online & pay the modest $15 annual membership fee
- Read about all of the membership benefits and perks you can
enjoy
Then, simply remember to WRITE YOUR USATF MEMBER NUMBER ON YOUR RACE
APPLICATION!!!! That's all. It takes a couple of weeks to get
your membership materials, so it might be a good idea to contact USATF-NE
by email after you apply and ask them to email you your number so that you
can put it on the race application. I did this, and they were very
responsive.
It's a good idea to apply for
membership now, because we have several other Grand Prix races scheduled
in our ROM series.
Any questions?? Let me know...

Race of the Month Series:
In an effort to help you
plan for the coming year, we have selected the Races of the Month for
January through June. I will send updates and reminders before each race,
but be sure to reserve the dates on your calendar now! Also, I'd like to
make another plug for getting your USATF-NE membership. Many of the races
we'll be doing this year are part of the USATF-NE Grand Prix series, so it
is also really important that you note your CRC affiliation on any entry
form that you fill out. Not only does this allow CRC to show up in the
Grand Prix standings, but it is also great publicity for the club! Please
see Bob, Bruce, Christyor any of the other club officers for more info.
