RT Sports

Since the 2005 season we have been using the RT Sports Comissioner Software package to run our league. This software gives us a has some advantages and disadvantages in comparison to CBS Sportsline, but overall I expect it to be a better service.

COST

The entry fee is $107. This should be paid to me in cash or check at the draft or via ML. There are no fees for transactions. All winnings will be paid out at the end of the season.

THE DRAFT

The draft order will be determined by a random drawing. The order will be "Snaked" to ensure fairness. So if you have the first pick in round 1, you'll have the last pick in round 2, etc.

Owners that can't make the draft should find someone to substitue for them at the draft. It is preferable that you don't choose someone who is already in the league. RT Sports does provide an auto-draft option as a last resort. The draft will be held on Saturday, 1 week before Labor Day weekend.

The final NFL rosters will not be available at the draft. Therefore, owners will have to find their own sources of information. Football magazines and INTERNET postings are generally your best sources.

Before the draft begins, the floor will be opened to clarify any questions or concerns anyone might have about the rules.

Each owner will have a maximum of 3 minutes to make each draft pick. We will not actually be keeping time, since this is generally not a problem. However, we should try to keep this time to a minimum, to cut down on the length of the draft. Typically, the entire draft doesn't take more than 3 hours to complete.

ROSTERS/LINEUPS

Each team will consist of 18 positions on there roster. The 18 can be made up of any positions. The starting line-ups will consist of the following o positions :

Starting Lineup

Bench

The bench consists of your subs. The sublist order is no longer relevant. There are no position restrictions for the sub list.

TRANSACTIONS (FREE AGENTS and WAIVER pickups)

Please read the transacion info described in the RT Sports documentation under the FAQs link on the main page.

Click on "owner deadlines" link off the main page to see time restrictions for all player transactions.

Free agent pickups can only be made up until the first game of the week starts on Sunday (1pm normally). Players who play in Thursday night games will be off limits after the Thursday game begins. They can't be claimed until the transaction period of the next week starts (next Wednesday)

RT Sports will handle all transactions and their rules will be followed. It may be necessary for the comissioner to intervene at times. For example, an owner may want to add a player that is not listed in the RT Sports database. In those cases, please notify the commissioner of your transaction requests. The commisioner should also be notified immediately for problems with the RT Sports servers or potential software bugs. In those cases, please submit transaction directly to the commissioner.

Waiver moves (FA bidding) and free agent pickups can be done every week. See RT SPorts rules for the time deadlines. Ties on bids are broken by the RT Sports tie-breaking system.

Players that are dropped are not available to be picked up until the following week. Thes players will be listed under protected free agents.

TRADES

Trades can be performed by any team and can involve any number of players. However, each team's roster can't exceed 18 positions. If team A trades 1 player to player B for two players then player A would have 19 players on his roster so he would have to release one of his players to reduce his roster down to 18 positions. As comissioner, I will reserve the right to disallow any trade that I feel is unfair to the league. This will prevent two teams from trading their best players to one team in order to make a "Super power".

Once a player is traded from a team, he can't be placed back on that same team's roster via another trade from any owner. He can however be claimed by that same team from the free agent pool if that player happens to be cut at some point. This rule was put in place to prevent "future consideration" trades in which 2 teams trade players for a given week and trade them back later in order to help both teams temporarily

Trades should be submitted via the RT SPorts website. The trading deadline is also specified in the website rules.

Trading draft positions(Pre-Draft) have strict rules. Owners can trade draft positions 1 for 1 only. For example, you can trade the #1 draft position for the #12 position. However, you can't trade specific draft slots. Like, I'll give you my 1st round pick for your 2nd and 3rd round picks. In addition, no league fees are associated with trading draft positions.

STARTING LINE-UPS

Individual player status(start or bench) is due 1 minute before each game (including Monday night). Once a game begins all players in that game are locked in your lineup and can't be altered.

IMPORTANT NOTE : Owners that submit illegal lineups will receive 0 points for the position(s) that are violated!!!!!!!!! RT Sports alerts owners when they set an illegal lineup so their is no excuse.

This year, RT Sports has added the option to combine WRs and TEs into a single category which our league rules support. I have enabled this option. You are not required to start players at all positions. However, RT SPorts will alert you if you haven't started the minimum number of players at each position. I set the minimum value for each position to ensure the owner is alerted when this occurs. Since there is no fee for transactions, there is no reason an owner should submit a lineup without all positions filled. Nonetheless, this is legal.

REGULAR SEASON PLAY

Head-to-Head competition (12 team owners). The team play will be organized in the following manner. The total number of teams will be divided into 3 divisions. This will put 4 teams in each division. A random drawing will be done to determine which teams are in each division. The season will be divided into a regular season (14 weeks) and 3 weeks of playoffs. This will account for the first 17 weeks of the NFL season. Week 18 will not be used in our league. To make up the 14 game season, each team will play every team in their division twice and every other team once. A season schedule will be provided after the drawing of teams/divisions.

FF PLAYOFFS

There will be 6 teams that make the FF playoffs. The 3 division winners(top 3 seeds) and 3 wildcard teams(bottom 3 seeds).

  • NOTE1 : Tiebreakers for teams with the same record are :
  • 1) Head-to-Head competition
  • 2) Totals points earned for the FF regular season
  • 3) Coin Flip

  • NOTE2 : When more than 2 players are tied, then the only way the tie can be broken by "Head-to-Head" is if one person has beaten every other team in head to head competition. If this is not the case then total points will be used to break the tie. If two of the teams have NOT played each other then the tie-breaker goes immediately to points.
  • NOTE3 : When 3 or more players are tied, the approriate tie-breaker will be applied to break it for a single position in the standings. To determine the next position in the standings the tie-breaker rules must be reapplied since this is a "different" tie not involving the same set of teams. Hence, the first tie-breaker may be points while the second is settled via head-to-head.
  • The wildcard teams include the 2 teams (non-division winners) that have the best overall records and the remaining team with the most overall points (#6 seed). The wildcard spots have nothing to do with what division the teams are in.

During week 15 of the NFL season the 3 wildcard teams and the lowest seeded division winner(#3 seed) will play. The two highest seeded division winners (#1 and #2 seeds) get a bye. The division winner will play the lowest seeded wildcard team(#6) and the remaining wildcard teams will play each other.

During week 16 of the NFL season the #1 seed will play the lowest seeded winner from week 15. The #2 seed will play the other winner. The winners of these games will then play each other in the FF Superbowl in week 17. The ranking of the division winners will be based on team record and the tie-breakers previously mentioned.

  • NOTE : Ties for playoff games will go to the highest seeded team. So the lowest seeded team must outscore their opponent to advance. Additionally, if tied in the championship game the highest seed will be declared the winner.

  • CONSOLATION TOURNAMENT

The 6 teams who do not make the playoffs will compete in a Consolation Bowl. This will last for 3 weeks (15-17). The owner scoring the most points during those 3 weeks will win the consolation tournament which has a $50 payout.

    ROSTER EXPANSION

Rosters will be expanded by 2 players at the start of week 14 for a total of 20 roster spots. The reason for this expansion is because no roster changes will be allowed at the conclusion of the week 15. To be more specific, free agent moves are NOT allowed at anytime after the first week of playoffs conclude (no week 16/17 17 transactions).

    SCORING

The scoring rules are listed on RT SPorts but they are included here as well.

    Regular Scoring

    Bonus Scoring

    TIEBREAKERS

If the starting lineups from 2 teams end up with the same number of points in a given week, then that game ends in a tie. See FF Playoffs above for other tiebreaker rules.

    POT SPLIT

The pot consists of the entry fees ($1272) less the cost of the RT SPorts service ($72) for a total of $1200. The pot is paid out in fixed amounts as follows :

    TOILET BOWL

The Toilet Bowl will be a one game matchup played during week 15. The participants will be the 2 teams (not making the playoffs) with the worst record. The loser of this game will be disgraced as having the worst FF team in the league. In addition, this loser will be required to be the "sticker boy" at the draft the following seasion. As a final "slap in the face" the loser will get his name signed on the "Ring of Shame" toilet bowl which will also be presented to him at the draft the following season.

    ERRORS/RT Sports Problems

Using RT Sports for the first time will probably cause some headaches as owners adjust to the new site. Additionally, we will probably run into some scoring problems or problems with our rules especially in the area of transactions. This will be the first time owners are completely responsible for the their own lineups. Any problems that arise, not clearly handled by the new rules will be decided by the comissioner. The comissioner, at his discretion, may request a league vote to settle any disputes.

If we have any problems with RT Sports, like servers are down often, or too many errors in stats we will drop the site and the commissioner will run the league directly.

The statue of limitations for correcting errors (scoring or otherwise) terminates at the kickoff of the first game of the week following the error in question. After this time, the scores become official and will not be changed!!!
