Project40 - A picture story...

This is how it started, this picture was taken back in August 1997 when I first bought the truck after months of looking, at that time I have not done anything to the truck, it was very stock, the only modifications the original owner did on the trucks were: 31" no-name tires on white spoke wheels (3 different sizes of wheels!), non-usa Toyota distributor, and front bumper

As of Feb 22 2000: This is how it looked with 2 1/2" OME suspension lift, 33" BFG MT tires with new Superior wheels, MAF bull bar:

Here is how it looked in May 2001, here is the first time I ever took it off road after working on it for 4 years. My buddy Jon Kuhry took these pictures at Hollister Hills, look for the non-usa Toyota full floating axle:

Here is a picture of my FJ40 and me taken by Craig Park at Rubithon June 2001, I added the Wilderness Roof rack and Hella Off-road lights, I managed to keep the truck basically stock, but many parts in the truck were replaced or rebuilt, only things which were not touched was the original engine and the body. The truck is much more capable offroad now (Yes, more capable than me), it has lower gear non-usa H41 tranny and the lower gear 3-speed-transfercase, ARB differental air lockers on both front and rear axles. I also added Toyota mini-truck power steering.

The below picture was taken by Tom Boyd, another cool local cruiserhead:

Below is the latest picture of my Project 40 at Cruise Moab during early May 2002, I added
a new rear bumper, and Confer aux gas tank, you can see the second OEM  gas filler door
in the picture

July 2004: Bellow are picture when I am about half done with my spring-over conversion using flat stock
springs, the truck is now running 35" Good Year MTRs with widen stock wheels (2" bs). I also did
the FJ60/mini-truck disk brake conversions for both front rear. I will do the FJ60 powersteering,
and Advance Adapter Orion 4:1 transfer case conversion next.
Shackle Reversal will be done by Butch Built. Too many details to list:

June 2006: Yes!!! I am done after almost 2 years, I got side track, took a year off
to train and rode my bicycle from North to South Vietnam.
It was a momment for reflection when I drove it around the neighborhood.

Now, it's running Saginaw, Butch Lewis style shackle reversal, Orion transfercase
