Well, after having this site up for six years, I still keep getting emails trickling in, and there aren't too many other Black Sorrows sites out there, so I've decided I'd better start doing more for you, the other fans! I hope soon to add a message board so you can ask questions about the band and your answers won't be limited to what little knowledge I have of them!
First of all, I should say I am not affiliated with The Black Sorrows or Joe Camilleri. This means that if you email me asking for Joe's email address you're kind of wasting your time, but you wouldn't be the first. I did actually recently find his address, at the home page of his Woodstock recording studios, and I sent him a message but didn't get a reply. It was about the time of year that he was probably in Tamworth, though, so it could just be my stupid fault! :) Let me know if you get in touch with him as there are definately many other fans out there who'd like to!
I sincerely apologise to all those who have emailed me about Joe or the band that I haven't replied to. I was very slack at the time, but I am much better at replying to emails now, so I encourage you to write to me again if you didn't get a reply or I didn't do enough to help you.
Also, I have had a lot of requests for guitar tabs/chords. I'm sorry, I don't have any or know where to get them. If you do, please let me know so I can put some info on here, you'd make a lot of people very happy!
THEIR ALBUMS
I own the following albums and have put the lyrics (in fact, the whole CD jackets) online for you. Please let me know if you have any trouble viewing them since I didn't know HTML that well when I did these pages!
- A Place In The World (1985) - not exactly how it looks, but close, and I'm afraid there are no lyrics
- Hold On To Me (1988)
- Harley & Rose (1990)
- Better Times (1992)
Their earlier works include Rockin Zydeco, Sonola, Dear Children and A Place In The World. Towards the end of 1995 they released a "best of" collection entitled The Chosen Ones. In late 1996 they released a 3 CD colletion called Radio Waves.
Tom from somewhere here in Australia tells me (in mid-1999) that the band released a new album, The Beat Club, which I know nothing about, but he says it's great! And Michelle, also here in Australia, told me much earlier that the album was released on 5th October, 1998, and was produced by James Black and Joe Camilleri. Thanks to both of you for the info, and I apologise for not keeping track of this better!
Linda and Vika Bull split from the band in 1996 (?) and released a single Love Comes Easy.
Before The Black Sorrows, Joe was in Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons. I don't have any info about them but I'll try and chase some up for all those long time fans of Joe!
LINKS
- Detailed discography - this link works again! - thanks Magnus for letting me know that you moved it!
- Joe Camilleri's Woodstock recording studios
- Whammo's Encyclopedia includes an entry for The Black Sorrows with a very detailed history.
- Vika and Linda - thanks Troy for letting me know about your site!
PURCHASING THEIR MUSIC
A list of mail order companies and online music stores I have found that sell their albums follows:
- ChaosMusic are pretty similar.
- Whammo have a fairly good range and has secure online ordering and worldwide delivery.
- World Wide Music used to have some ablums, but it looks like you need to register before you can search now. If you do register, there's a chance you might be able to preview some songs if they would include samples for albums that are probably not big sellers.
- Sony Music Canada used to sell some of The Black Sorrows' albums, but I can't find them on there anymore. You might have better luck.
If anyone knows of any other sites or companies that people around the world can use to get some of these albums, please let me know. The few online music sales sites who contacted me asking me to give them a link seem to have gone bust before I got around to providing the link!
