Leilani Gayles Named Vice President Of Human Resources At Silicon Graphics

On December 13, 1994, Silicon Graphics, Inc. announced that Leilani Gayles has been named vice president of human resources worldwide. In this position, she is chartered with leading the company's efforts in organizational learning and development, benefits, compensation, recruiting and staffing. She also retains responsibility for human resource information services, executive programs, diversity, employee relations and communications.

"As Silicon Graphics continues to grow, it will increasingly depend upon its human resources group to recruit, develop and retain the best employees in the world," said Ken Coleman, senior vice president of administration for Silicon Graphics. "Leilani Gayles has already contributed a great deal to Silicon Graphics in both spirit and deed. She has the vision, leadership and experience to drive technologies, such as telecommuting, and programs necessary to help take Silicon Graphics to the next level."

Gayles joined Silicon Graphics in February, 1985 as the human resources representative to the Manufacturing Division. Over the past several years, she has held positions of increasing responsibility within the human resources function. In January, 1992, Gayles was promoted to vice president of employee relations when she had responsibility for this function worldwide as well as corporate staffing and diversity.

Prior to joining Silicon Graphics, Gayles served as corporate SEED program manager for Hewlett-Packard Corporation. Gayles holds a bachelor of science degree in organizational behavior from the University of San Francisco. She serves on the board of directors for Family Service Mid-Peninsula and Kids in Common and was the recipient of the YWCA's Tribute to Women and Industry award.
