SILICON GRAPHICS RECEIVES ISO CERTIFICATION FOR MANUFACTURING QUALITY

On January 10, 1994, Silicon Graphics, Inc. announced that TUV Rheinland of North America has presented the company with ISO 9002 certification for manufacturing quality assurance. Silicon Graphics' certification follows a detailed assessment by TUV Rheinland to confirm the company's compliance with stringent guidelines outlined in the International Standards Organization (ISO) 9002 and the European Norm (EN) 29002 standards.

The comprehensive requirements for ISO 9002/EN 29002 certification cover many aspects of manufacturing, supplier management and distribution. Processes must be well-defined, documented, controlled and continuously reviewed for effectiveness. Silicon Graphics met these requirements by making innovative use of its leading visual computing technology, creating visual systems for such processes as online documention and automated management of problem-solving and corrective action.

"ISO certification is essential in today's global workstation and server markets," said Steve Goggiano, Silicon Graphics' senior vice president, Operations. "It underscores our commitment to quality and will enable Silicon Graphics to compete in a wider range of sales opportunities."
