Philips Semiconductors Joins As New MIPS Technologies Microprocessor Partner For Embedded Applications

Philips to Design and Manufacture Derivative MIPS(r) RISC Microprocessors

On October 5, 1994, MIPS Technologies, Inc. announced that Philips Semiconductors has joined as a semiconductor partner and architecture licensee of its MIPS R3000 family of RISC3000 family of RISC microprocessors. Philips will be able to take MIPS microprocessor cores and and combine them with specialized circuitry for a broad range of applications in consumer and embedded markets. Philips Semiconductors is a division of Philips Electronics, headquartered in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
