Equal translates an applications's high level API calls from the Macintosh platform into corresponding UNIX facilities. But instead of displaying the application running in a Macintosh- or Windows-window, Equal invokes the native UNIX Motif widgets, UNIX file system and fonts plus a variety of other native resources which give the application the appearance and functionality of a native port.
Quorum recently released Equal 1.2, which provides a 25 - 30% performance improvement over Equal 1.0. Equal 1.2 is faster in such areas as startup/launch time, compute bound performance and graphics. Equal 1.2 now supports XINET K-AShare file server software. XINET products enable Macintosh and SGI users to share files and printers anywhere on the network.
