ASDG ANNOUNCES VERSION 1.3 of ELASTICREALITY

Version 1.3 of ElasticReality for SGI increases color accuracy and performance.

Version 1.3 of ASDG's ElasticReality for SGI workstations boasts faster performance, deeper (64 bits per pixel) color handling and other improvements. ER's installed base continues to grow including sales to Kodak's Cinesite, Modern Videofilm, and Sony ImageWorks.

Madison, WI, Dec 1, 1993 ---- ASDG Incorporated, a leading supplier of color imaging and special effects solutions for the television and motion picture industries, announces the availability of version 1.3 of ElasticReality, a high-end morphing and warping system for SGI workstations. The new version adds several new capabilities and improvements to existing features.

Most notably, ER now supports internal computations at a color accuracy of 64 bits per pixel. This, added to ER's already resolution independent operation, makes ER ideal for even the most demanding feature film work.

A non-linear in-betweening mode has been added which can dramatically decrease the number of keyframes necessary to track complex or oscillating motion. Now, the user can select between linear and spline based tweening on a shape by shape basis.

Other improvements have been made allowing some features of ER to operate at 50 times their previous speed.

Also new with version 1.3 is the availability of floating (network) licenses. Normally nodelocked to a specific SGI workstation, ER can now be used anywhere on the user's network for a small incremental fee.

ElasticReality continues to gain a dominating position in high-end morphing and warping. Recent sales include Kodak's Cinesite, Modern Videofilm, and Sony ImageWorks. Among recent high-profile uses of ER is VisionArt's creation of Odo's shape-changing transitions in Paramount's Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
