Fish and Birds

(Click on the pictures to see the "real" things...)
Nope--it is not a shadow--it is a fish--most likely a bass--there are also a lot of large catfish. These fish were larger than the ducks.
If you look closely at the center of this picture, you will see a Grebe. This bird spends it's entire life on the water, only going on land to nest.
Geese are fun to watch.
This is a pair of geese that always hung out together - not sure if they were buddies or a mated pair.
They spend a considerable amount of time in the English Village on the promenade, sometimes harassing people they don't like.  They dive at them with heads down honking loudly.
There is a wide variety of ducks too.
More ducks.  The black birds are Coots.  The term "mean old coot" refers to these pushy little guys. They are always fighting and chasing other birds.
More fish than ducks in this one. Look at the size of these monsters.
What looks like shadows under the ducks are actually fish that are larger than the ducks.
Lots of Coots, some of the brown ducks as well as some Mallards.
A Coot fight. Coots have been known to lay on their backs in the water and kick when they fight.
A Coot and a fish.
Duck on his personal ramp.
When it gets hot in midday, the ducks spend time in the shade of the bridge.
One of the guys looking for a hand out.  He has a broken wing that does not seem to deter him in the least. His buddy is not far behind.
There he is.  Always faithfully playing follow the leader.
This black bird is a male Grackle.
These guys talk constantly and have a huge repertoire of tunes and sounds.
The brown Grackles are the females.
Grackle.
Grackle.
Grackle.
This little girl was very elusive but Dave finally got a good shot of her.
