Body Work

We got all the paint off and found out that the front end
had some pretty severe stress cracks. So instead of grinding
and fixing, we decided to get a new door to door piece.
Driver's side rear quarter panel was replaced but was
not installed correctly. Off it came to be installed properly.
Rear body work done (with a new fiberglass '82 rear end).
Black gel coat from Eckler's did the trick to seal the fiberglass.
A view of the rear quarter panel re-installed. Also a glimpse
of the door sanded and primed.
New inner skirts (might as well if we're putting a new front end
on). A bit more of the engine compartment is visible too.
Here is a shot with the new front end piece just resting on the
car. You can see that we are going to be painting the car '76
Corvette yellow, so we decided to paint the jams and doors
and have the exterior of the car professionally painted.
A good picture of the front of the jam with the chrome ID
plate (in the door jam) buffed and replaced after painting.
We painted the inside of the doors also. A professional touch
without the $$$ spent on a pro.

The next step was two coats of primer, block it out and sent it off to be painted (finally)!
