Young People’s Activities and Events for Highnam Court Spring Fair 2010

There are a wide range of activities and events for younger visitors at Highnam Court Spring Fair 2010.
NEW this year! Great Balloon Race. How far will your balloon go? There is a CASH prize for the balloon that travels the furthest (all balloons and labels are biodegradable).
You are also invited to join the adults in the Shopping Mall and the Floral Marquee, visit the Gloucestershire Stone Carving Festival, admire the classic and vintage cars and listen to a huge variety of live music.
You can meet our Medieval Barber/Surgeon who will be displaying his wares, telling some gruesome stories and introducing 'Archie'- his pet leech!
On both Saturday and Sunday, in the Children’s Tent on the Upper Lawn, Gloucester Cathedral’s Education Team will be on hand to provide lots of FREE 'makes and takes'.
For example, you are invited to exhibit a drawing of something you have seen in Highnam Court Gardens in the ‘Instant Art Gallery’ for everyone to admire.

You can also make clay butterflies and ugly bugs with the Cathedral Education Team or guess where the treasure is hidden on the Highnam Court Gardens map. Or you could try making some mosaic pictures of flowers, insects and birds.
There will also be the opportunity make some 'tree jewellery' for yourself or a friend.
Why not plant a sunflower seed in a pot to take home? Or have a go at identifying some herbs and make a 'tussie mussie'. What's that? Come along and find out!
For the very young, there's colouring on the toddler table and baby changing facilities.
GARDEN TRAIL!

Why not take The Snail Trail! Hunt down the snails in the Rose Garden - there's a prize on each day for the correct number found.
For Health and Safety reasons, children needed to be accompanied by a responsible adult on this trail.

An old favourite, Face Painting, is also available in the Children’s Tent and the Pied Piper Clowns will be on hand to direct children to the various events.
