M94 (NGC 4736) M94 (NGC 4736)

This image of M94 is composed of six 60 second exposures added together. This was taken in my backyard at Aliso Viejo on Feb. 14th, 1997 with my Meade LX200 10" telescope with a CB245 and a focal reducer at F/4.

At the accepted distance of 20 million light years, the distance across the galaxy is about 33,000 light years, with a corrected red shift of 210 miles per second away from us. It has a total luminosity of about 8 billion times the light of our Sun. M94 is in the Canes Venatici Constellation.
