| This image of M94 is composed of a single 5 minute exposure
using an SBIG ST8 with the new Adaptive Optics attached.
This was taken at my home at Coto de Caza on April 17th, 1998 with my Meade LX200 10"
telescope at a focal ratio of F/6.3
At the accepted distance of 20 million light years, the distance across the galaxy is about 33,000 light years, with a corrected red shift of 210 miles per second away from us. It has a total luminosity of about 8 billion times the light of our Sun. M94 is in the Canes Venatici Constellation. |
