NGC 4826 (M64)
| This image of NGC 4826 (M64) is composed of three
4 minute exposures summed together. This was taken on top of Elsinore Peak
on March 9th, 1997 with my Meade LX200 10" telescope with a CB245
and a focal reducer at F/4. This galaxy is also called the "Black
Eye Galaxy" do to its appearance.
At the accepted distance of 20-25 million light years, the distance across the galaxy is about 48,000 light years, with a red shift of 225 miles per second away from us. |
