I painted this picture in 1980 during my "Frank Frazetta" period. It was the result of many long evenings alone in a cold, damp bedsitting room in Cheltenham. Obviously I was in need of escapism.

Years later it almost cost me my marriage. When my girlfriend, as she was then, first came to my house she took one look at the picture and decided I was probably an axe murderer.
