"Summoning the Snow Dragon"
watercolour and goache
© 2001 Jonathan Nixon

This was painted as a birthday present for my sister who likes dragons.

It was basically one big experiment, but turned out quite well. The whole picture was blotted with paper towels as it was drying to give it a blurred, grainy look. The snow is white paint spattered onto the finished painting using a toothbrush.

I'd like to say that I had a special artistic reason for painting it as a triptych but the truth is I ran out of big pieces of paper.
