History of the Town of Fitchburg
Directory to most of Rufus Torey's History

In the 1830s Rufus Torey wrote and published his 
History of the Town of Fitchburg.  It was republished
in 1864-65 as part of the Centennial Celebration.  
There are copies both in the Fitchburg Public Library
and the Fitchburg Historical Society. 

Here are links to the various parts of this text
as they appeared in the fitcburg-hometown mailing
list in 1995-96.

The 1764 map of Fitchburg adds to the understanding
of this book.  If you superimpose this map upon
a modern one you can figure out which roads
