Fitchburg Access Television 376 South St. Fitchburg, MA 01420 FATV (508) 343-0834 January 9, 1997 (for release on receipt) Fitchburg Access Television (FATV), which pioneered live telecast of high school football last fall, has added a 10-game package of live high school basketball telecasts to its 1997 broadcast schedule. The same volunteer production crew which brought Fitchburg High School football including the widely-viewed Thanksgiving Day match with Leominster High School to cable homes in Fitchburg, Leominster and Lunenberg, is presenting a series of Fitchburg High varsity home games from the Brickyard gymnasium. The first broadcast was Tuesday Jan. 7 when Fitchburg was upset by Shrewsbury. The basketball series will include seven more boys' games and two girls' games. FATV will use a minimum of three cameras for coverage and the producers have designed a new sports graphics look for the broadcasts. Luke Conry is the play-by-play announcer and Dave Svens is the analyst. The telecasts are made possible due to underwriting support from the Byrne Insurance Agency Inc., Slatterys Restaurant, The Exchange Club of Fitchburg , The Recovery Room, Real-Time Systems, Donnellys Tavern Inc. and The Office Store.
