group takes a mammoth and several riding unicorns and heads downstream
(south/west)
- 3/7/10 exp held, party meets Tree Dwellers who advise we
travel to the next town by sundown or they raise the ladders and we'll
risk problems with "the Hunter in the Darkness". The group made it to
Ringbark and spoke with the condor elder G'dor. Bobcat elder Clarisse
gave Dora a proxy note for the Elder Council meeting.
- 3/14/10 exp held, party troups through redwoods in rainy
season and finds "the Hunter in the Darkness" as they shelter from rain
beneath a fallen tree. It is grumpy that we trespassed and harmed
trees. Session ends mid-fight. (You have damaged property of the Great
Northwestern Forestry Management Corporation, LTD, with an assessed
value of $5 million newdollars, You, your heirs, and any one you know
will be sued immediately.)
- 3/21/10 and 3/28/10 no game
- 4/4/10 exp held, we fight the Forestry Management crab... in
the dark... in the rain... We win and take an arm as proof to the next
town of Redridge
- 4/11/10 6 exp, Redridge looks forward to Antonio visiting again
and losing stones games again; Harper's Dell has great stories and
honey; Grandfather of Trees is impressive and expressive, but we don't
speak tree and were surprised when the sky thundered and a fiery ball
flew across the sky heading southeast followed by more thunder and a
heat wave
- 4/18/10 exp held, we dig up a tile from a blast landing crater
en route to Blackfoot Manor, get welcomed by a gryphlet in our
quarters, and watch Dora get embarassed by her Twin Brother Aiden
Blackfoot; Antonio gets to ride a griffin, and we continue to GreatPort;
game ends at the Blackfoot Manor waiting for Uncle's return with
shouting outside the front gate
- 4/25/10 exp held, A'tuin lets Drule the Doberman show off his
martial prowess (or lack thereof), Dora joins her Uncle Diego at the
Council meeting, the rest of us give the box from Sho-Nuff's camp to the
Pythia, and get chosen for The Quest (duhn-duhn-duuuuuuuhhhhhhh) to
follow the thundery trail to the SouthEast, game ends as the Council
decides to supply us
- Note: Toby joins the party and gets 1 exp less than normal party members per exp handout
- 5/2/10 exp held, shopping for the trip, game ends as we start upriver on a barge
- 5/9/10 no game
- 5/16/10 exp held, travel upstream, Nari bests Octazons in a
bow challenge of skill, game ends in Troy - city of large warriors for
hire - with very large and very drunken Grummash the Boar (bore?)
claiming Dora as his mate
- 5/23/10 no game
- 5/30/10 8 exp, Dora annuls Grummash's proposal; travel
upstream continues through Longview and The Hills of Eld, past the
Hooded Smoking Mountain, through The Dalles, and up to the former dam
The Last Outpost; elderly moose tells us "Well questors, this is as far
any Prophet has been able to hear McCollough. From here, you would be
normally on your own. However, this is not a normal time. I have been
instructed to give you his Light."
The prophet hands over a Crystal wafer, about 3" by 1.5". It has a
flat shinier patch, a button, and a circular partch that slides.
McCollough is the God advising the pod Confederacy. Named after the
State Engineer responsible for all the bridges along the Oregon Coast
highway.
We are warned about a cranky militant batch of Tigers and a cranky
batch of Eagles. Game ends at The Keep On The Borderlands.
- 6/6/10 3 exp, a small pack of walrus cats attack the camped
group but leave when ordered to by another large cat, possibly a Tiger
clansman or just a brighter walrus toothed tiger cat
- 6/13/10 no game
- 6/20/10 no game
- 6/27/10 no game
- 7/4/10 no game
- 7/11/10 exp held, We pass through Deepwater, with militia
commander Rath the albino Tiger. Deepwater is set atop a Forerunner
stache and they mine it in The Pit. To get to Mosaic, first go through
the Sunflower jungle, avoid insane Taetahead, and don't go as far as the
Toybox.
- 7/18/10 5 exp, 3 Tigers go to Deepwater to earn their stuff, but fail to defeat Rath, A'Tuin, and Everett
- 7/25/10 exp held, We fight fires in Coyote town of
Argeyipyipyip and rescue the Chieftain's daughter from a smoky demise;
Chief's son leads a splinter group of wanderers
- 8/1/10 exp held, Left coyote town followed by wanderers (who
are setting up plague warnings around the town to discourage trade),
camped near cursed site next to 50' tall diamond obelisk, alarm chimes
in the night but no fight; found abandoned wolf village and Building to
Forerunner Spirit Who Will Not Die and 2 buildings to Forerunner healing
guild (no Kender, beach trip)
- 8/8/10 exp held, creature left building, we explored building
in its absence; apparently it's a carrier of bad sad death and heading
for Argeyipyipyip so the party backtracks to track the creature and warn
the coyote town
- 8/15/10 no game
- 8/22/10 7 exp, The Thing from St Francis, part 3, we keeeel it
dead before it reaches coyotes. Apparently it can spread disease, we
burn it dead.
- 8/29/10 exp held, Another rainy day brings us to the Happy
Valley School of Spiritual Strength, jumping martial artist goats, run
by Master Tseng. We meet Geoff the Horse, who got Too Close To
TaterHead (duhn duhn duuuuuh) "YOU! Destiny grows within you, like a
sprouting seed. It whispers, but you cannot see. The future and the
past join together in chaos in the heart of the salt desert, BEWARE!
BEWARE THE BOX! It is fearsome!" Next stop: Vulture Clan: bring snacks
or be snacks. Sunflower Jungle, don't stray off the path and don't eat
anything; Sterile Ridge; Taterhead's Domain.
- 9/5/10 exp held, Vulture Clan
- 9/12/10 4 exp, Passing through the Sunflower Jungle we see an
Earth Mother rotund tigress offering bounties of fruit and booty to all
who would partake, we pass. The Sterile Ridge is back to cold. We add
our donation to the offering box of mummified potatoes. And little
forerunners in green creep up on Dora in the middle of the night (Fairy
Barbie? Tinker Barbie?)
- 9/19/10 exp held, A 4 squad of the Joe Collective (Yo GI Joe!)
interrogative us, then several others escort us to a foil lined resting
place. We pass onward toward Taterhead, passing an elephant making
solar system fruit drawings, and winning a hakki sac duel with nomad
Cheetahs.
- 9/26/10 no game
- 10/10/10 7 exp, We are escorted to the Colosseum to see
Taterhead, receive advice for 3 questions, and decline joining with
Taterhead. Next stop: bleak salt wastes/desert
- 10/17/10 exp held, little canid girl escaped from black wolves who wanted to take over her Free town
- 10/24/10 exp held, we sneak close to town and take out their watchers. Nari takes then snipes from the Belltower.
- 10/31/10 exp held
- 11/7/10 exp held, we assault and mostly free the town but some townfolk are missing
- 11/14/10 exp held, we take a Forerunner tunnel out of town
chasing wolves and missing townsfolk, we find wolves and a Big Scary
Bear Thing
- 11/21/10
- 11/28/10 Post-Thanksgiving Weekend
- 12/5/10 10 exp, Wolves and Big Scary Bear Thing go down, along
with Nari, A'tuin, and Everett. Cheers to Willy the Mayor's son for a
timely crossbow bolt that wasn't at us.
- 12/12/10 exp held, Townfolk recover somewhat and grampa Cliff
Scaler Jim recommends a shortcut near the Matterhorn, no worries The
Grendel is probably hibernating anyway
- 12/19/10 exp held, Shaman with an odd drink popped in, shared, and popped away again, leaving puzzlement and advice behind
- 12/25/10 Christmas Weekend
- 1/2/11 New Years Weekend
- 1/9/11 3 exp, Chupacabra mob comes to nom nom nom the Hunkle Homestead and travellers (Kender took Fiona for stitching)
- 1/16/11 exp held, Canterbury farmstead of yaks reached, coming of age party about to happen
- 1/23/11 exp held, Antonio enjoys being a minority male at
Canterbury Homestead, Toby flees the nubile ladies, and we escort
Juniper and Clementine to Fort Elk to more family. Drinking in the new
year was interrupted by a zippy fluffy flying white bat thing marauding
the town
- 1/30/11 exp held, Oh Noes! We downed a bat, but there were 2
more... Then there was the Ring Wraith who landed in the center of
town...
- 2/6/11 5 exp, Antonio becomes a bat kite string ornament.
Note: Don't try to use yourself to tie off a flying giant bat lasso, use
a building next time. Kill them, skin them, wear them for armor. 6/6
armor for the basic stuff and near thermal immunity. It is very white,
though

- 5/1/11 no game
- 5/8/11 no game
- 5/15/11 It's a Vampire Creepy Castle!
- 5/22/11 The Master Vampire is a Forerunner? (Kender and Fiona camp on porch)
- 5/29/11 6 exp, Much butt kicking. After getting OUR butts kicked we finally defeat The Master and his minions
- 6/5/11 1 exp, Having beaten the vampires we loot the castle.
Goodies. Nari finds an 'invisible' knife that cuts everything. She'll
eventually put it on Toby's javelin. (Kender worked)
- 6/12/11 exp held, Lots of rocky nothing to travel through. We
overnight at the lodge of Mustang High King Hrothgar of the Heorot. 3
day guest/protection rights willingly accepted. There's a wolf on
quest, but not the one Nari is seeking. Drunken revelry follows dinner,
and a midnight sneak attack is foiled by Silenius, who starts kicking us
awake. (Kender baseball, Fiona won messiest hat head)
- 6/19/11 exp held, The Tent Warrior Saga Begins. Badgers! In
herbivore skull masks! Woe and Curses on The Brendels. 5 years ago they
were defeated and strewn to the winds. Tonight they tunnel through the
forerunner storerooms under the lodge and attack mustangs. Wolf on
Quest is also missing, and a big plate is found with 4" lug nuts.
Tribesmen know of 2 other such plates.
- 6/26/11 Hroogar offers you valuable marriages in exchange for tracking the Brendel to their den.
- 7/3/11 No Game
- 7/10/11 exp held, Brendel run to old mine caves, many
foolishly charge out to be devastated by our group. We leave mustangs
outside and go in. Junior Shamaness had a whole host of unpleasant
things, too dangerous to burn. Cliffhanger finale, we hear a
THA-WHOOOOSSHHHHH and hail of drugged darts come out of the darkness at
the party.
- 7/17/11 exp held, Fortunately the Brendel aim sucks. And
Toby's new Forerunner Crystal javelin is 2d6 AP plus Str/maneuver
damage. We defeat more Brendel in a metal drum while Antonio spots
altars and tunnels at the drum base. Cliffhanger finale, 2 Giant Cave
Moles (a pair of furless, chisel-toothed monstrosities, each larger than
A'tuin's slepnir) followed by a giant (Everett sized) female Brendel,
who chants and aims the moles at us.
- 7/24/11 exp held, Yes, the fight was as scary as you thought. We won. There was a pit covered cloth disguised as floor. Fortunately Toby is paranoid and saw it ripple. Goodies found. Young wolf found drugged, abused, and weirdly branded.
- 7/31/11 10 exp, Loot!!!
- 8/7/11 exp held, Party like a mustang! We move on through deserted desert, to find... a WALL... Nice illusion. There's an irrigated green patch beyond the wall, with a canine Contemplationarium.
- 8/14/11 exp held, Of COURSE we sneek out
- 8/21/11 no game
- 8/28/11 exp held, Bowels of the Forerunner area, escorted by native guides Lisse, Magna, and Nadja. The flying machines and old canned supplies are neat oddities. And then there's these tunnels...
- 9/5/11 exp held, Continuing down the tunnel under the repurposed Forerunner Contemplationarium we find a pump room and a cleaning bot. There's another communication thingie. The local Spirit of The Land is "Acting General Halorohan Clarke" of the base, and knows who Katamari is.
- 9/11/11 exp held, Oh, Darn... Are we friends with the maintenance robot at the bunker you entered from, or the naval robot approaching the outer wall at the head of a 67 something army? Nooooooo... Lord Polaris the SharkBot with a Honking Huge Sword, minion of Poseidon, leads crab bots with javelins to Demand We Yeild To His Authority And Guide Him To The Invader From The Sky. (respect my AUTHORITAAAAAHHHH) Uh, No.
- 9/18/11 8 exp, Nari nails the faceplate of Polaris sharkbot and crab bots reconsider their quest from Poseidon to find the threat here. We let them take his memory orb and sword back home. Clark and Katamari think curing Akira at Edwards is possible. Uuuh, right. What about our Quest for the thing that fell from the sky? Katamari had contacted the Centauri Descendant, been promoted, and instructed to take Akira to Edwards Air Fortress. Edwards will either store him or return him to the sky.
- 9/25/11 exp held, Apparently Brendel have been following crabs, who were following us, and planting skull curse markers. They're not doing that anymore ;) Trip across the Nevada Wastes, with you coming in sight of the former Amargosa Valley (Lulu: Mongoose valley? Katamari: Um...) as the sun sets, the moon rises, and the streetlights shine invitingly in the distance. Fade to black.
- 10/2/11 exp held, Narrowly we avoid Herbert, the monster of fog and shadow, as we enter Divine Valley, neutral ground for Gods/seers between California and Meade. We go to Grubs for bbq and company. A swan seer visits and gifts people with necklaces; most get glass, our group gets iron.
- 10/9/11 exp held, We save the neck (literally) of one of Jasmine's ganders (a drunk bruin wanted to spend time with Jasmine and didn't take 'no' kindly), so our stay in town's on her bill. Lady Heather of the Barbies is informative. Odin/Edwards runs a combat competition which Willers thinks we'll do well in, but nobody told us or Katamari.
- 10/16/11 5 exp, Lady Heather warns us our compass is also a travel log and may tell Odin all about us, unless we leave it with Katamari. We avoid the Lonely Dustcloud and make it to the ruins of Opera, and its burros and Fountain of Tequila... mmmm...
- 10/23/11 after travelling through ant-land and scorpion land we reach Edwards for the Valhalla Championship. We pass racing sailboards on a dry lake. We decide to pass Baker City and check in with Battle City. Everett and A'tuin check in as combatants. Sedge the angry drunken yak challenges A'tuin, who whomps the yak, and is given a yellow tag by the Vanin/guards for non lethal combat until Match Day. Everett is given one also as A'tuin vouches for him. Tiger King Khan is current Unlimited Class Champion.
- 10/30/11 no game
- 11/6/11 exp held. This is the city. Battle City. With it's people, places, arenas. Your format? Gladiator. Your purpose? To lurk and defend.
We get lodging in Boeufballer's Paradise, combined football, rugby, the other football, and mixed martial arts cage matches... and Antonio's mate Rosalinda, very angry mate for alot of reasons Rosalinda, who issued him challenge to survive a match Sturmday at the south gate contest ring; he's so far the 8th name on that list. Technically it's for "farm hand" 3 anteaters, an aardvark, a spiny anteater, a bull, a horse, and jaguar.
- 11/13/11 exp held, Rosalinda's party is shadowed to their inn, and Silenius chats with Slim after she's gone to her hangover... uh, bed. Antonio's gone for 9 months and may be dead, brothers are a saga, and she's wicked pissed. Since we haven't found any wandering Seers of Odin, plan B is win the contest and get an audience.
- Horse: weapon is the lance-noose, preferred style is the passing charge. He has a temper.
- Da'ar the Bull: Mancatcher trident. Style: circling engagement. He's been here 5 years in 'Heavy 2 Handed' category and *really* wants to be out of here.
- Tez the Jaguar: Weapon: Light orca sword with built in field hockey scoop. Style: stand off and stun targets, then close. Also carries a lariat, but does not seem to use as a battle weapon. He's a Duelist at heart, if not professionally. However, he's also not at his best mounted.
- Spiny anteater: long garrotte (aka weapons-grade jumprope) and native claws for close in. Style: circling engagement. Not entirely at home fighting from horseback; a competent herdsman, just more used to sheep and goats rather than larger beasts.
- Anteater 1: Lariat and saber. Style: circling. Word from the professional escorts paints him as being randier than Antonio. And skilled. And equipped fully. And a perfect gentleman, even to doxies.
- Anteater 2: (aka Paolo, the big one) dual wield whip & truncheon. Style: circle & close. Can't feint to save his life. Very straightforward, and gets cranky when his foes are subtle or tricky.
- Anteater 3: Bolas and javelin. Style: stand off and close. Middle of the road. He only gets in one challenge, and that ends up being "Javelins at 20 paces".
- 11/20/11 exp held. We scope out competition. Also for the next few days Everett and A'tuin will receive a few pre-positioning challenges from others in their competitive categories.
- The only wolves in the archery competition are from Tezcatlipoca Kingdom. Too blonde to be the guy you're looking for. Rumors are that there are some guys in the knife-dueling competitions that fit the bill, but they don't seem to be engaging in street-duels. Archers are not indulging in pre-battle week bouts, they're secure in their skill. The elephant, for example, isn't terribly accurate, but you'd hate to face him and that whalebone artillery piece in battle.
Antonio's deal is single elimination ladder; four duels, two duels, final duel. Who gets who initially is random.
The style-based competitions are more complicated, and involve a point system at some level. So fare, none of you qualify for the freebie win in the first round so far.
The Hippo, Fujiko, is the reigning champion wrestling; she isn't likely to have to do anything until round two.
- 11/27/11 The Season Of Challenge. A 50 elephant fanfare starts things off. King Camile (wolf), King Khan (tiger), and King Chin (python) are at the Grand Pavilion, along with 6 or so Seers, and a gorgeous blue pointed arctic fox (first fox any of us have seen). The solid gold dancers have finished their performance, and the three kings have proclaimed what great acts of mayhem they have performed, the Voice of Odin shakes the ground as he invites the Kings to give advice/pithy comments at this Waxing Equinox matches of Valhalla Championships. King Camile challenges King Khan for guardianship and possession of the Godspuppet Siri. They face off in the center ring, a hapless moth inadvertent referee. It's an awesome battle that lasts for minutes, then Khan takes out Camile's spine and wins. She gets up after she heals, ignores Khan, and leaves. No moths were harmed in the making of this legend.
- Antonio vs Horse: Horse rides a very large horse. Antonio lassos the Horse's weapon arm, rides under the Horse's horse, and disarms/dismounts the Horse. Antonio for the win!
- Jaguar vs Anteater 2: Jaguar rides a Unicorn, and his weapon is long enough that he probably can scoop up if he leans out of the saddle a bit, carries six of what are fundamentally croquet balls to throw with that weaponized field hockey stick. Jaguar for the win.
- Spiny Anteater vs Anteater 1: Anteater 1, the masked Mystery, has a mouth on him. Rants on for a bit abough how he has a "greater cause" that winning this competition will advance, and the Spiny A is just in it for "a mere job". A1 dramaticly cuts the long garotte in half on one pass, and regrets it for another three more rounds of the fight as Spiny reversed which ends of the cords he's holding, and goes all martial-poi-ball on the guy, but not enough. Anteater 1 for the win.
- Bull vs Anteater 3: Bull hooks the anteater out of the saddle with his mancatcher trident, and throws him completely clear of the paddock. Bull for the win.
- Second round of the match is scheduled for after sundown, to better simulate the contestant's ability t deal with nightime hazards of their potential employment. Dora guesstimates Rosalinda is behind that spyglass, four tiers up, and three blocks that-a-way.
- Everett, A'tuin, Nari, and Hal will deal with the afternoon competitions they're scheduled to attend next game session.
- 12/4/11 Later that same day... A'tuin tosses Lou Li the Boar out of the ring, leaving a swath of broken bystanders and carts until he crashes into beer, which he consumes in consolation. Everett is bruised but the victor in his match. Nari lands 5 good shots in pendulum targets and is one of 5 contenders to advance to Round Two.
Hal is Healer on StandBy for the Unlimited Class melee, a weed out event. Everyone is assigned a 3m x 3m square of the main arena floor. Grand melee occurs for 5 minutes, after which anyone who can make it to the ref handing out tokens while there are some left advances to Round 1.
Hal will take a private job after the match to help "Lefty" regrow his arm, someone used his last one as a melee weapon after ripping it off...
And the evening B plot thickens:
- Antonio vs Jaguar: Jaguar narrowly misses slicing off his Unicorn's ear and sends a ball into the crowd. Antonio uses the bat whistle to cause the Jaguar's mount to shy, and whip disarms him. And then gets beaned in the noggin by a wicked fastball. Antonio ropes and dismounts the Jaguar, but then loses the gesture of a friendly hand up to the Jaguar's very possessive Unicorn.
- Bull vs Masked Mystery Anteater: Anteater attempts to whip disarm the bull, and loses his whip. Anteater vaults from his saddle to behind the Bull and attempts to choke him out with his saber. Bull grabs Anteater by the schnozz and tosses him out of the ring by a nose. "I care not for your noble quest, little one. If you truely need to travel east, do so by the strength of your own labors."
- Rosalinda will look at the two of you. "Mighty Da'ar. AN-tonio. You have both done well today. Go, rest, and prepare for your final match in the morning."
"And Antonio, try not to screw up and fall down aNOTHER flight of stairs tonight, hmm?"
- Antonio dismounts and puts his hat, lasso, and whip on the ground. He beckons to the bull. They have a quiet conversation, where Antonio confesses to chasing Rosalinda and not the farm hand job. They agree to a good match tomorrow, and Da'ar won't be upset if Antonio wins the match and concedes the farm hand prize.
Upon returning to the inn, there are no Boefballers. There's the inkeeper, behind the bar. Studiously polishing glasses. There is a large figure, sillouetted over there at a table on the balcony; a much more slender, cloaked and hooded figure sitting with them. Antonio blunders distractedly to the bar then notices he is alone. Everyone else is alot more alert and assumes defencive stance/slouch.
"Be at peace , my protector." The cloaked figure pushes back her hood, revealing the vulpine features of Siri, the "spirit of guidance and wisdom" that the two Kings were fighting over at the opening ceremonies. "We have much to talk about."
Duhn ... Duhn ... Duuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnn !!!!! (fade to black)
- 12/18/11 exp held, Siri and King Khan think Odin can take charge of Akira and eventually help after the contests when he becomes unlocked, god family politics notwithstanding. It would be best if there were a cure for The Grey Death, not simply keeping Akira in hibernation until return to his home.
"Akira's friends upon the Centauri Descendant have skills and tools lost since the Fall, and in some cases, surpassing them. What they need, is information gathered in the last days of the Forerunners. I know your journey has been long, and wearying, but I ask, will you help us, and help Akira just a bit longer? Once he is safely in Odin's care, there would be one last sort quest for you. The information we need is not that far away, physically, but it is in a place of considerable chaos. You call the area the Lost Angels Madlands. What was once the Forerunner city of Los Angeles."
"But first, we need to deal with your charge. The simplest thing, of course, would be for one of your three contestants to emerge victorious in their 'Limited' competitions this week." Or we could compete to be a Seer of Odin. Of course, we already declined to be Seers for Taterhead. Khan also suggests we could become zombies and enter Odin's care for possible healing. "Not a rational suggestion, my guardian. I will explain why later. Twice, during these competitions, Odin will open the roof of his hall, to test and calibrate his . The exact timing changes from season to season, and it isn't for long. If you were quick, you could lead Katamari through the city at that time." King Khan gets a lunch date with Nari. "I will contact you should none of you succeed in your competitions. You might want to retreive your communication device form Katamari. You might be pleasantly suprised."
Antonio and Da'ar face off after Antonio admits to Rosalinda the farm needs more help than he's been and Da'ar would be good. Antonio manages to rope the hexnir and forcibly dismount Da'ar. Antonio gets dismounted by Da'ar's mancatcher and sees The Marvelous Masked Anteater swinging through the air just before he goes splat. MMA grabs Rosalinda for hostage and swings away to the rooftops, just in time to be nailed to the rooftops by Nari. Da'ar lends a hoof by throwing Antonio to the rescue, who proceeds to impersonate Wolverine and punctures MMA before skidding across the roof. Antonio eventually calms enough to turn MMA into a pretzel, and gets a victory dunk kiss by Rosalinda.
