A short while back you all joined up with a platoon sized (25-40) mercenary mech force, Istan's Skybolts, and promptly got categorized as the newbie squad, Epsilon Squad. Your last mission was to protect the landing facilities
on New Antica as the entire populace loaded into transport ships for
the FTL trip to Old Antica. A rival bug type non-human race had
chosen New Antica for their new colony.
The Anticans are 3' tall six limbed bipeds. They have built from the ground up the new Little Antica district of the city. Anticans naturally generate a binary epoxy from right below their middle limbs. When mixed with mud, this makes a nice polymer concrete.
Well, things went from bad to worse, and a couple of Ogres got past the planetary defence forces lines, and headed for the landing field. Istan took the proven pilots to stop them, and gave you orders to protect the ships, and be on one when they all left. In gung-ho newbie fashion, you got on the _last_ ship, at least. The ship took some damage as it left the battlezone, and headed for FTL. The jump to FTL did not go as planned, and you did not drop to normal space a few days later as planned in the Old Antica system.
Two months of short rations later aboard a slowly eroding tramp freighter with a couple thousand polite-yet-nervous ant people, you arrived in the starting campaign system. The ship survived re-entry, but landing was a little...final. The landing legs interpenetrated the main drive systems.
Everyone gets a +2 reputation with the residents of the Little Antica district of the city. A couple months later you haven't heard yet from Skybolts comand, and you haven't had an influx of administrative types telling you that _this_ is now Skybolts command.
You have an old abandoned airfield on the ourskirts of Stargate City in the Little Antica district of the city. Underground hangars, long thin strips of ferrocrete, miles upon miles of rundown chain link fence... When you took over, there was a lot of undifferentiated space to play with. There are a handful of civilians in the base. (Some people even get dnpc points for them.) A city residence has more of the amenities. Main hangar is buried. Trade guild owns the stargate just off to the side of the middle of town. Is there a mecha arena on this planet. Answer: Yes. Note that the arena pays for repairs to the _winning_ mechwarrior only. Some of your mecha are _actual_ military war machines. Most of what shows up in arenas are upgraded civilian machines.... A 2-lane street with sidewalks is 1 mech-scale hex across.
