Basswood Cave is on Nevin Davis' property, about a mile down the road
from the BCCS homestead.
Went in at 12:15am. It was 15 degrees with blowing wind when we arrived at the
cave. We had prepped as much as we could before driving over, and we changed
very quickly.
Came out at 7:25pm. The temperature had risen to 22 degrees, but the wind
was still blowing.
We got a slow start in the morning because half the team didn't get in the night before until around 2:30am, and the rest of us stayed up to wait for them. (I went to bed around 1:30.)
I went in and out of the crawlway a lot and helped down at the far end. I drilled and set one of the charges. (We were using Tony's soda straw charges this time.)
Lisa got through the squeeze twice: once first thing at the beginning of the day and a second time at the end of the day before we left. The second time she took our ATC2000 helmet cam with her to take video for everyone else to see what the new section looks like. Unfortunately, the camera's CCD is poor, and there wasn't enough light for it so almost all of the video was too dark and didn't come out.
Sara left early (maybe around 3-4pm?). Al came in for a while in the middle of the day mostly just to look around and socialize, I think.
We stayed at Keith Wheeland's house, called "The Roost". Keith made a small stuffed turkey for dinner Saturday night that was fabulous. (Scott Olsen was also staying at Keith's.)
TBD.
