Lisa and I rode with Diana up to Marion Friday night, caravaning with a large group from our grotto. We stopped for dinner at Wendy's in Wytheville then all headed to Tanya's house where we stayed rather than camping because it was Memorial Day weekend, and there were no campsites to be had easily.
I think this was the first trip back to Hancock Cave since access had been closed for the past 8 years. (The new landowners are amenable to our grotto accessing the cave.) The cave is really a caver's cave and has a little of everything: big rooms, tight passages, stream passage, a vertical maze to climb around in, loops, short pits, muddy entrance/exit that benefitted from a cable ladder, etc.
Tanya, Keith, Lea, Yu, Howard, and Hayden made up the other group in the cave.
Had a nice dinner at the Italian restaraunt in Marion. I brought and shared a keg of home brew with the group when we got back to Tanya's. It was well-received.
