ridge walking and digging on the hill
Description
TBD.
Notes:
stayed at Tanya's house
played The Cave Game and had homebrew Saturday night
maybe if Tanya and I had less homebrew, Ken and Dave wouldn't have trounced us quite as badly
took a look at a possible cave on a steep hill across the Holston River
headed over to Rowland's Spring Cave and drove around the area to look at the topography and understand how the topo map Dave had matched reality
started doing some ridge walking
Dave dug at a little hole that didn't end up doing much
Ken (with a little help from me) dug and found Sentinel Cave
I had my gear so I went in
about 10' back into the hill and maybe 10' vertical
decorated
Ken stayed at the entrance to talk to me and haul dirt (using webbing and my cave pack)
unfortunately, couldn't really dig at my feet
when I came out, Dave took me into the upper section of Rowland's and showed me around a little; got to see the little screech owl
missed lunch so went to a little restaurant nearby mid-to-late afternoon
was OK except for the couple smoking at the next table
roast beef special was reasonable, and the side of onion rings was enormous
got on the road by around 5:30 or so
