Description

After rappelling at Whiteside Mountain on Friday and dinner afterward, we drove to Table Rock, arriving at 12:45am. We set up our tent and fell quickly asleep. We slept in a little on Saturday then got out on the rock for a few hours of rock climbing where we saw a number of our friends from our local rock climbing group.

I led the first pitch of Jim Dandy then Lisa did a great job of leading the second pitch. We decided to rappel off since it was a crowded day on the rock and we didn't feel like dealing with a lot of people on the Lunch Ledge. We couldn't remember whether we could get from those anchors all the way to the bottom on 2 60m ropes. (Based on my notes -- that I couldn't find in my guide book that day -- we can.) To be safe, we rapped on one rope to the anchor below us at the top of the frist pitch of Skip To My Lou, then rapped from there to the ground on two ropes.

As we got back to our stuff, a couple guys on Peek-a-boo were just finishing up so we moved our stuff up there and had some lunch while waiting for them to finish. I proceeded to lead. Around 4pm it started to rain. I had just finished leading the first pitch and was at the anchor on a ledge in an alcove. Lisa quickly finished climbing up to me, and we stayed on the ledge out of the rain until it stopped.

We rappelled down and called it a day since we weren't interested in climbing on wet rock. We headed to the NC Outward Bound School base camp for dinner and a fun presentation that was part of an American Alpine Club weekend event.
