THE NOSE GETS PIERCED AGAIN? 13 June 98

Local climbers and the Carolina Climber's Coalition got busy at the Nose area of Looking Glass in late May. With local climbers' input and the permission of the first ascensionist, volunteers replaced the first two belay stations on the Nose and added a rappel route to serve this popular area. All new bolts are 1/2" Petzl Long Life with Fixe Rap Ring hangers. Please use this descent route to alleviate crowding of the belay stances! Note that the rap station at the Parking Lot is accessed via 4th class terrain and should be approached with due care and protection! The next rap station is somewhat hidden in an eyebrow; start looking for the station when you are about 10'-15' below the 2nd belay on the Nose. DO NOT USE THIS STATION AS A BELAY FOR PEREGRINE!
