Hi Friends,
I am coordinating a Thank You Party for our Congressional Representatives and Grassroots Activists,
for Friday, January 21 in the evening. Reps. Zoe Lofgren and Mike Honda are confirmed to be there,
Rep. Anna Eshoo has been invited and we are also inviting other progressives in the
South Bay area. We also would like you to come to help celebrate and build grassroots organizing.
This event all started because a group of us got together after the election not ready to give up.
So many people had worked hard with MoveOn, MMOB, ACT, DFA, Sierra Club; many had never been involved
in electoral politics before. We were amazed by the energy and success of the Moveon Bake Sales,
Moveon Art Auction, MMOB Letter writing Parties, House Parties and so many other events and
do not want the energy to dissipate. So, we decided we are having a Party!
This party is an important opportunity to celebrate our successes, support our progressive legislators,
and explore together ways to bring the progressives together, as we continue to fight the conservatives
and prepare for mid-term elections in 2 years. 2005 needs to be the continuing “building year”s
to our movement. We need to bring the groups together and find out what we can do to effect change.
We are looking for the Recipe for Success – just like the successes of the Bake Sales and
letter writing activities in the South Bay.
Please join us to celebrate our accomplishments and bring progressives together.
