Our first house party
took place on Sunday, December 7 2003 at San Jose Friends Meeting.
We had over 50 people crammed into our Meeting House -
about half from the moveon.org community and half from San Jose Friends.
After viewing "Uncovered," we joined in on the national conference call
and had quite a bit of discussion.
Although most people had never met,
there was enthusiasm for follow-up actions and to stay connected.
Some of the ideas expressed at the House Party were:
- We need to "do this again" & keep in contact.
- Maintain contact list.
- Get this movie submitted for best documentary.
- Get the video to clubs & youth groups, and high school students.
These are the people who are being targeted by Armed Forces recruiters.
- Rent a hall or movie theatre to show the film.
- Get it run on KTEH/KQED.
- Get the press involved; write letters to the editors.
- Call the Administration & Congress; make them accountable for mistakes & lies.
- Launch an investigation - ask Congress for independent investigation.
- Calls to Mercury News.
- Get info out & encourage circulation of the movie.
- Need to get enough people to speak out - to get Bush out.
- Target the undecided: League of Women Voters, Civic Groups.
- Get the video in all Libraries.
Here are some pictures from this house party.
