NYSSA'S FAREWELL

Sarah Sutton's departure scene from "Terminus" is generally regarded as the second best departure sequence by a companion during the show's twenty-six year run (only Sarah Jane Smith's goodbye scene from "The Hand of Fear" can top it). Although "Terminus" isn't the strongest story in the "Doctor Who" saga, it provides a great exit for Nyssa, and is worth watching for the last ten minutes of episode four alone.

So, without further delay, Nyssa's Nexus presents the complete script for Sarah Sutton's final scene from "Terminus" as well as the first online screen captures of Nyssa's Farewell.

Tegan: Doctor! Doctor, talk to Nyssa.

Doctor: What is it?

Nyssa: I'm not coming with you.

Doctor: What?

Nyssa: There's too much to be done here.

Tegan (to the Doctor): Tell her she must.

Doctor (to Nyssa): Well you can't stay, it isn't safe. Certainly not until the Vanir have sorted out how they're to run Terminus.

Nyssa: And with my skills I can help them.

Tegan: We need you too.

Nyssa: I've enjoyed every moment of my time on the TARDIS and I'll miss you both. But here I have the chance to put into practice the skills I learned on Traken.

Tegan: Please, Nyssa.

Nyssa: I'm adimate! Please, let us part in good faith.

Doctor: You do fully understand the committment you'd be undertaking.

Nyssa: Yes.

Doctor: And that life here will be very hard.

Nyssa: I am fully aware of that, but I want to stay.

Doctor: (Pauses) Then you're a very brave person. I wish you every luck.

(The Doctor extends his hand. Nyssa gently takes it and moves close to him, kissing him softly on the cheek.)

Tegan (to the Doctor): She'll die here.

Nyssa (turning to Tegan): Not easily, Tegan. Like you I'm indestructable.

(Nyssa hugs Tegan. The Doctor steps away, then turns around with a look of sadness).
