Why do we feel warmer when we blush?

This is an easy cycle to get caught up in: you have an
emotional response to something like embarrassment. Your
blood vessels dilate and send more blood to the surface of
the skin, giving you that unmistakable red glow. You start
to feel hot, which only makes the situation worse. Now
you're bright red AND you're sweating like a pig - talk
about embarrassment!

Unfortunately, there's no way to turn this off. The
increased blood flow to your face and torso brings the core
heat of your body to the surface, where it's picked up by
your nerve receptors. The receptors tell your brain that
the blushing areas are getting warm, adding to the
discomfort of an already awkward situation.
