I. Defense against throw-in - Principles 1) Defender holding ten-Ace position should recognize possibility of throw in and should keep a safe exit card if necessary by (a) unblocking (b) under-ruffing (c) discarding a winner (d) switching the suit suitably guiding the partner 2) When declarer has surplus trumps in both hands and declarer's play shows that his playing for elimination, defender should (a) Unblock (b) Kill entries required for elimination, and should not adopt forcing play i.e. making declarer ruff a suit which allows declarer to preserve entries for elimination (c) play high in second position to avoid either self or partner being thrown in as may be evident from the cards in the dummy.
