I work at home in Santa Barbara along with my wife, Kelly Morse Johnson (klmj) and our cat Keegan.   (Our previous cat Beast died of fluid in the lungs caused by heart problems and our previous cats Rafiki and Basti  died of various digestive problems related to Abyssinians.  Save yourself a lot of expense and grief, don't get a pure breed cat or dog. They are too inbred.)

Here's a 3D map of our town.

I play music with the UCSB Middle Eastern Ensemble.   I play Nay (pronounced either "nie", rhyming with "pie", or "nay", rhyming with "hay", depending upon what part of the Middle East you're from).  Here's a AIFF file [263Kb] of my playing a favorite Sufi tune when I first started many years ago. Here's an excerpt from the Persian song "Rounama", played by the ensemble. Here's a finging chart for the "Dukka" which is the one tuned to the key of "D". (mostly for my own reference, of course.)

I love books and like to read many different ones all at once. I'm usually reading about four or so at a time, switching off between them all. Here's a list of some of my favorite books.

Other interesting pages

Danman's Music Co.
This is the home page of my brother-in-law in Dana Point, Ca. He's a professional musician and plays mainly flute, piano, and guitar. He has quite a few cassette tapes out and we all hope he'll be able to put out a CD sometime soon. This home page has information about his band, their club, and their gig dates, times, and locations.
The Passing Zone
Owen Morse, my brother-in-law, and John Wee are a great comedy juggling team. If you're looking for some great entertainment, they're your guys!
Jeff Tritel
This sculptor is a personal friend and lives in Grass Valley. Check out their new Web page which they just started!
The Goddess Shoppe
This is the home page of a long time friend of the family, Erin Rado. She didn't know much about computers at all and yet managed to register "goddess.com" and create her own web pages (yes, she did them herself)!
Darryn Songbird's Ocarina page
Darryn Songbird makes ocarinas of all sizes and sells them here in Santa Barbara on Sunday afternoons down by the ocean. He's a wonderful musician and has some recordings of his playing on this page. I believe he plans to also sell his ocarinas here as well as some CDs of his work, but he's still getting started with the page design currently.
