My buzzroaster setup.

I have had a Char-Broil 9000 grill for years and it is still in fine shape so I wanted to use that for my drum setup. I added with a rock grate above the flame and am using Char-Broil Char-Diamonds to shield the drum from the direct flame. Here is the complete setup:

I used Char-Broil Char-Diamonds 2 layers deep except where the Buzzroaster's door handle is. I used one layer there, with an cutout section from an aluminum pie tin underneath to block direct flame.

The Buzzroaster is mounted to a 3/8" stainless steel threaded rod. I bolted the drum to the rod with stainless steel nuts to make sure it stays in place

The 3/8" threaded rod was not long enough, so I used a stainless steel connecting nut and a 3/8" stainless steel eye bolt. I put on a socket which rides in the rotisserie bracket so that the rod and drum set up roll smoothly at 57 RPM. I cut up a rolling pin I got at The Salvation Army for $1.75 and use that for handles. The socket side of the rolling pin is hot, but the eyebolt is actually cool to the touch. The rolling pin is never too hot to be held with a bare hand, even with the grill on full blast.

Here are some more pictures of the motor setup. The Lovejoy couplers are also kept cool by the rolling pin handle.

The switch was a standard wall switch with an outdoor box from a local hardware store.

I stuck a grill thermometer in an existing hole. It does not appear to be very accurate, even though it is pretty close to the drum.

I got the more expensive larger model, so it should be ok.

I tried a thermocouple in different locations (there were pre existing holes in the grill for the racks). The temperatures were much higher than the grill thermometer read. Unfortunately the stuff covering the probe started to smoke. I guess I need a higher rated thermocouple.

First roast turned out pretty good, I don't have a temp profile yet though. I'm still working on a good way to measure/track temp.
