Cab: Salvation Through Pain

And Thus Follows The Transcription of The Latest Time Cab Was Out Cold

Cab opens her eyes. A featureless black plain, no real lighting, Morgan walking toward me... I'm toast.

Morgan: Hello
Cab: Why do you wait so long? (yeah, kinda rude, but very puzzled and pissed and figures Morgan is why she's here)
Morgan: I've been here. I'm here to help you.
Cab: I'm very puzzled. Why do you wait so long to join the other three? (wanting to know why the suffering continues and what we can do to speed it through the scene)
Morgan: They're insane.
Cab: Why are they insane? They were much more fun.
Morgan: The insane often are. Crystal can see all that happened, all that was, it was too much, it made her insane. Merrie just runs around doing things, trapped in the moment. I can see what will be, what can be.

Cab: I suppose I should be more worried about me, but I'm still worried about them.
Morgan: You fascinate me. You're dying, but you still worry about questions of the universe.
Cab: We all die. This is just one of the messier, more painful ways.

Morgan: I'm here to help you. There are things I can do now. But there is a price, Destiny is never free. It would cost part of your Destiny. It would be some of your potential. Not all of it. You are a mage. You would still be a mage.
Cab: (looks dubious and thinks mournfully about deals with The Devil and about the prophecy part redeeming The Fourth ' Would drain the receiver 'Till in Death it were free.')

Morgan: I have never told you anything but the Truth. I'm the only one who has. Merrie played games with you, Crystal told you nothing.
Cab: We never asked Merrie any questions.
Morgan: You asked her lots of questions. She led you through all these games. All I've ever done is help you since you got here.
Cab: How have you helped? Everything seems to have gone badly.

Morgan: You used me. You've been using me the whole time.
Cab: Not consciously.
Morgan: You even had me move to use me. You knew what it was doing.
Cab: Oh. Yeah. Not completely though, now I know. Those creatures, are they part of you, your pets, or just a side effect?
Morgan: They are no part of me. You made a hole into their home without even asking.
Cab: (looks very puzzled.)
Morgan: You deliberately penetrated the gauntlet.
Cab: Yeah.
Morgan: In a high entropy zone.
Cab: Yeah.
Morgan: You used destiny. Destiny's creatures answered.
Cab: That's an awfully dark destiny.
Morgan: Everything now turns to them. But it will happen far, far in your future.

Morgan: You never asked me to help you.
Cab: Would you like to? (yes, trying to dodge that death/sell your soul question again, afraid of the answer)
Morgan: That's what I'm here for, to help you. I've been helping you the entire time.
Cab: Have you? You seem to make things happen faster, things that will happen.
Morgan: No, they happen right on time.
Cab: Our effects, and what happened to the garou.
Morgan: I wasn't even there when his soul was taken.
Cab: No, not then, when he got worse again.
Morgan: He asked for power. He got all that he asked for.
Cab: We got more than we asked for, we never asked for all of that.
Morgan: You're not very experienced in working in lots of destiny.
Morgan: The whole time I've been here I've been helping you. Even when you've been taking. I stopped them the first time. I almost stopped them the second time, but they got away.
Cab: Thank you. Does that usually happen, or is it just me?
Morgan: It always happens. Kasee did it last time.
Morgan: You've all just been taking the entire time.
Cab: I thought that's how it worked, you reach out and ask, and if it's favorable it's there. We've been taking?
Morgan: Yes.

Cab: We're not ready to deal with you four.
Morgan: You will never be ready.

Cab: Will he ever get his soul back? (referring to the garou, Walks All Paths)
Morgan: He's supposed to, it's in the script. In most of them he does. At least he gets there. He probably will.

Cab: So they're insane because they don't see the same as you do?
Morgan: Merrie's insane because she has not enough to focus on. She only sees the moment. Crystal is insane because she sees what happened, all of it. She is too controlling.
Cab: It sounds like just quirks.
Morgan: In mortals it's just quirks, because you can't do anything about it. Crystal can. She's very rigid.
Cab: If Crystal's the past, Merrie's the present, and you're the future, what is The First?
Morgan: A pain in the ass. I suppose I shouldn't say that. I just don't like her very much.
Cab: She is eight.
Morgan: That's different.

Cab: I suppose it still bothers me. We get started and given this script, and we make it happen because that's how we think it's supposed to be, and you come along and tell us we can change things.
Morgan: There's another destiny. Different. I saw it after the end of the last one.
Cab: Better?
Morgan: Different.
Cab: The current one is very dark. The other one is brighter?
Morgan: Different. Can't tell.
Cab: I thought you could see what can happen.
Morgan: It is still impossible. When it is possible, I can see it.

Cab: After the game is over, what then? Start a new one?
Morgan: Don't know, it wasn't as much fun as we thought.
Cab: If it isn't much fun, why do you still play it, why not make it over?
Morgan: It is over, a long time in your future.
Cab: Why do you still play now?
Morgan: My last chance with the ripple, to make a difference.

Cab: So, is this the real you? Or is this just most fun?
Morgan: It's me, as much as any of them are. This is me. The vortex is me. The staff is me. So are the others.
Cab: May I please see the staff?
Morgan: (reaches out and is holding a staff of gnarled old willow with mistletoe wrapped around it.)
Cab: Nice.

Morgan: You're running out of time. This is your last destiny. You can't help them much when you're gone.
Cab: Would I help them more by living or by dying? (trying desperately to figure out if I was part of the prophecy 'till in death it were free' )
Morgan: You won't help them by leaving.
Cab: But I could still help them by living?
Morgan: Yes. You don't have much time left.
Cab: I want to live.

CAB WAKES UP. LOSE 1 AVATAR, GAIN 2 EXPERIENCE. FULFILL PART OF THE PROPHECY. ISN'T BEING PART OF DESTINY JUST SO MUCH FUN?
