There is nothing about Reuben Cabot that would make him stand out in a crowd, and that's pretty much the way he likes it. He is 5'11" tall and weighs around 180 lbs. His legs are well-muscled (the result of riding his bike everywhere he goes, since he doesn't drive) and his hands are callused from woodworking. He usually wears jeans and t-shirts, and the t-shirts are usually of various festivals and bands (Umstead Festival, Festival for the Eno, Superchunk, Whiskeytown, etc.) that are obviously two or three years old. In cooler times, he wears a black-faded-to-dark-gray Members Only jacket.
Reuben is painfully shy and is uncomfortable in groups larger than two or three people. He is unlikely to initiate conversation with people he doesn't know, although he is able to overcome his shyness when it appears that someone is in need of help.
He is occasionally seen with a large, black dog that resembles a cross between an Irish Wolfhound and some other large breed. The dog doesn't seem to have a name, except for "Dog."
