Walks All Paths aka John Walker

Thomas Martin

Here me, mother Gaia, I pray to you!
Here me, Aunt Luna, I sing to you!
Stand by me, burning Helios, I beg of you!

I am Walks all Paths, a lupus, and I pray my need to you!
I am Walks all Paths, a philodox, and I sing my need to you!
I am Walks all Paths, a Silent Strider, and I beg of my need to you!
I am an outcast, and I cry my loneliness to you!

My life was good, but never sweet,
still I wanted nothing, and was content.
At two the firsting came, and my wolf-life was over,
Garou I was, my life started anew.

I wandered alone for six cycles of the moon,
but I sought the wisdom of others,
so I joined a pack in the human land of New York,
learning about them in their crowded city.

The Sept of the Green gave us a home,
and from the Central Park we roamed,
Owl's Sight and I, Striders both,
joined with Gaia's Song and Pub Stalker of the Fianna.

Four three summers we served Gaia together,
fighting the Wyrm, and its minions
Pollution nor Vampire could hold us back,
Nor strong drink Pub Stalker, our Alpha.

Soon enough, the Strider wanderlust overcame me,
and I needed to travel,
So alone I left,
knowing my family would await my return.

My travels are many,
and not important enough to recount,
but in that time I served you all,
and sought the harmony of Gaia's Love.

First I traveled the human lands,
learning all I could.
I went North and South, East and West,
and visited all continents.

In Africa I saw what all Garou should see,
The Others in their glory,
diminished though it be,
by Garou claws.

With time and effort I came closer,
through honesty and Sacrifice I approached,
and by Gaia's grace I was accepted,
by the Bastet.

An outsider I was, but I tried to make amends,
to these noble beings whom we attacked,
for no good reason,
and thus with the Swara I became friends.

My travels brought me back to land of America,
for it was there I walked most roads.
I spent time with the humans and Garou,
meeting and befriending all I could.

I now know many humans,
and meet someone I know at most crossroads.
By understanding them and their ways,
I intend to better serve Gaia.

Eventually, the pull of the Umbra,
to which I had been no stranger,
became too powerful,
and I spent many moons and seasons in the Shadow.

My wanderings took me far,
and all near realms I visited,
even The Scar and The Abyss,
for which I bear no love.

Once, Paws of Light,
the Swara to whom I am closest,
helped me see the truest love of Gaia,
and a week we spent, in The Summer Country.

After such bliss, I returned to visit my family,
but the ten years that had passed were not good.
Owl's Sight had also left to wander,
and while away disaster fell.

Pub Stalker had been accused of Wyrm taint,
He denied and Gaia's Song stood by him.
Aeschelus, the accuser, challenged,
and his Bastards of Fenris won.

The Scent of the Wyrm was upon him,
most say, but the Theurge's smell of doubt.

Owl's Sight returned, and was attacked,
but he did not smell of the Wyrm,
so he was spared by Mother Larissa,
and now serves the Sept of The Green.

I returned, and was attacked,
but I AM NOT OF THE WYRM,
so I was spared. My heart was shattered,
but I knew I must continue.

The Sept was warned of danger,
Kinfolk had seen the evil,
Leeches had invaded the Park and broken the pact,
killing a family and stealing a child.

The Bastards were sent after them,
and I with my affinity for the Umbra.
I hated the Association,
but the work was good.

We followed their trail out of the city,
into the woods to the North,
before daylight we caught them,
and the battle was short. They fell.

The petrified child we saved, but all was not well
the bastard's theurge saw the child without the veil,
and they decided to kill her,
lest she be a threat.

No child deserves death for what she might become,
so I grabbed her and ran,
they chased, but I eluded them,
reaching the Umbra, which they could not do.

I returned to the Sept and sought Owl's Sight,
He too saw the vision, but did not fear,
For He told me to go South,
and let the Rite of the Questing Stone guide me.

He gave me a fetish to ease my travels,
and told me to seek out her kind,
Human's without the veil,
at the Stones end.

He performed the rite,
and sent us on our way,
telling me he would alert friends,
to aid us at that end.

Then the Bastards returned,
and sought our blood,
but we were too fast,
and to the Shadow we escaped.

But Owl's Sight remained,
and about him I worry,
I hope for his safety,
but fear the worst.

But now I travel,
until I reach the end,
where this silent girl will be safe,
and I can right the wrongs that plague me.

I know without knowing,
that my name is besmirched,
but I do what I must,
to serve Gaia's will.

There is no verse to describe my crime,
for I have committed none,
yet I stand accused, and an outcast have been made,
thankful only that I have not become Ronin.

Mother Gaia, watch over and guide me!
Aunt Luna, help me right all wrongs!
Great Helios, light my way to justice for all!
My prayers, my songs, my desperation, and my need
are all laid open to you,
Please help me open the eyes of all Garou!
